“Lyssa: like Alyssa without the Uh”

Welcome, fascia friend

I have been passionate about massage for most of my life, recognizing an intrinsic ability handed down from my grandfather and great-grandfather since I was the age of ten. Both my grandfather and great-grandfather were amateur massage therapists in the 1930s-50s in the Bay Area, practicing on athletes and military personnel. I am deeply proud of the innate skills from this lineage and honor the lessons of patience and communication with one’s body with each client I encounter. Through their guidance and encouragement, I continue to further my education regularly in massage manual therapy techniques.

Before choosing my career in manual massage therapies, I received a B.A. in women’s studies and human services from CSUF. I have always been an avid member of human rights associations from elementary school to college. These experiences enriched my character to be empathic, curious, and epistemophilic in all matters of life. If you happen to catch me in between treatments, you may find me YouTubing a new video on body mechanics or food recipes, foam rolling, or more than likely folding laundry or possibly snacking on a new grub I’ve whipped up from my YouTubing…

A little deeper into all about me.

Services

I diligently collaborate with each client to develop a customized and progressive treatment plan. Recognizing that the body responds uniquely, I integrate various modalities based on individual responsiveness. Here are some of the techniques I commonly employ. Prices are determined by the duration of your booking rather than the specific treatment style.

  • Designed for relieving severe and chronic aches and pains and creating more mobility. This is a highly detailed massage, built upon science-based foundations. NMT focuses on the complete muscle belly and involves applying targeted pressure and friction techniques to release muscle knots (trigger points) and alleviate chronic pain and tension.

  • A multidisciplinary manual therapy approach focuses on treating and preventing musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain. In addition to treating specific injuries, it is also used to increase the range of motion, decrease and manage pain, and restore normal body movement and function.

  • Connective tissues known as fascia surround muscles, bones, nerves, and body organs, with the use of specific massage manipulation treatment to release tension in the fascial layers due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. These techniques can ease tension from fascial binding. Thus creating muscle relief and mobility.

  • Myofascial decompression or “cupping” is a particular cupping technique in which movement is elicited under the cups to restore movement patterns and restrictions from nonfunctional to functional. Myofascial decompression is a helpful technique for breaking up adhesions, scar tissue, and soft tissue restrictions through the use of negative pressure.

  • PNF, or assisted stretching, is a more advanced form of flexibility training that involves stretching and contracting the targeted muscle group. Aimed to increase mobility and soft tissue fluidity. It is one of the most effective forms of stretching for improving flexibility and increasing range of motion.
